Why we do
What We Do
Mobility is an accelerator for Community development
Research indicates that inadequate transportation infrastructure leads to significant mobility challenges for rural populations.
A study by the National Institute of Urban Affairs highlights that nearly 60% of rural households in India do not have access to reliable public transport, resulting in difficulties in accessing essential services like healthcare and education. This lack of mobility contributes to economic stagnation, as individuals are unable to reach job opportunities or markets, thereby perpetuating poverty.
The Annual Status of Education Report (ASER) illustrates the educational disparities faced by students in rural areas, where long distances to schools and inadequate transport options lead to high dropout rates. The report shows that students in remote regions often walk over 30 minutes to reach school, which discourages attendance and affects learning outcomes.
Need for Diversity and Inclusion
According to the 2011 Census of India, approximately 2.68% of the population, or around 2.68 crore (26.8 million) individuals, reported having some form of disability. Among these, mobility-related disabilities are prevalent, affecting individuals’ ability to access education, healthcare, and employment opportunities.
Research indicates that over 20 million individuals in India require mobility aids but lack access to them. This lack of access severely limits their ability to move freely and participate fully in society.
